What was leaking.

A storefront with no demand is a parked asset; ad spend with no capture is a bonfire. Most brands run the two as if they were separate businesses — the store on one side, some boosted posts on the other, and no tracking to tell you what a lead actually costs. The result is budget spent on reach that never becomes a registration, let alone an order.
